In the past year, I’ve been using Legiit as a customer and freelancer. In that time, it’s become my favorite freelancing marketplace, and I’ve earned just under $10,000 on the platform.

Yep, just under $10,000 sorry for the clickbait title. But I have done some work privately for the Legiit founders, who I met through Legiit. if you add that… adds up to $17,000+ so the title isn’t clickbait 😀

Throughout this Legiit review, I will guide you through my experience and everything you need to know to succeed with it.

I’ve also spent around $2.3k on Legiit as a customer for my own affiliate websites, so I can give you insights into using Legiit from both viewpoints: customer and freelancer.

What is Legiit?

Legiit review

Legiit is one of the fastest-growing freelance marketplaces on the market. Unlike some of the bigger competitors, it’s not built by a random company with millions of funding – but instead by freelancers.

Because of this, it beats other freelance marketplaces in various aspects, as the founders know what freelancers and customers need.

Legiit Review: My Experience as a Freelancer

When I started freelancing on Legiit, I knew nothing about marketplace freelancing… Like 0, nada. I was just doing a bit of affiliate marketing, and some work for friends that I already knew.

The only experience on marketplaces I had was adding a couple of services on Fiverr and applying to some jobs on Upwork – but I never actually got a client/sale doing that.

After signing up to Legiit, I threw up a service and got a sale quite quickly. How?

Through joining Chris M. Walker’s  (Legiit CEO) live stream and simply networking a little. Chris was kind enough to give the service I was selling a go, a Twitter management service. And from there, a couple of others did, too, leading to my account slowly growing.

However, even if you are fortunate enough that someone like Chris tries out your service early… It’s not going to be a golden ticket to success, and you’ll still have to put in some effort. So, I wanted to give you some tips on making sales.

But before that, let’s look at the features.

Legiit Features (For Freelancers)

Here’s a complete list of the features that Legiit has:

  • Create a sales page for all your services
  • Built-in checkouts
  • Withdraw via PayPal or Pioneer
  • Messaging
  • Reports
  • Advertising/Sponsored services
  • Thank you page
  • Coupons & Discounts (Some only premium)
  • Bundled Services (premium only)
  • Volume discounts (premium only)
  • Sub-user accounts (premium only)
  • Recurring Billing (Premium only)
  • Analytics (Mostly premium)
  • Canned replies (premium only)

*** Legiit premium costs $28 per month.

I love the features because Legiit gives you not only everything you need to sell your services but also a lot more.

For example, you can create coupons, generate images of reviews or sell recurring services. All of these features will help you generate more sales and will ultimately make more money for you.

I don’t know another freelance site that has any of the features named above. Despite this, Legiit charges smaller fees than most of its competitors, but we’ll look at the pricing in more detail later…

Getting Your First Sales

Promoting on Legiit:

Undoubtedly the best way to get your first couple of sales on Legiit is by using the Facebook group and its opportunities.

Every week, you’ll be able to share your services within the group & submit your services to get sent out in the weekly newsletter. I’ll talk you through these opportunities in a little more detail in a moment.Sign Up For a Free Account

Promoting off Legiit:

While using the internal opportunities are very effective, one thing that will set you apart from a lot of other sellers is promoting yourself off the platform:

  • Sharing your services on social media
  • Creating content around your services
  • Building an email list around your services

I must admit, I’ve not promoted myself externally as much as I should have. But that’s why I’ve started building up this website and my Twitter account, so I can start doing so.

Let’s look at the best strategies I’m going to use (which you can copy)

#1 Creating SEO-Optimized Blog Posts (Or YouTube Videos)

The first method is to create blog posts or YouTube videos around your service. This could be tutorials or other types of informational content where you are educating the user about something.

It doesn’t even have to be explaining why they might need your service. Instead, you can show your customers how you do what you do because many of them will search for it.

Most of your customers will see how much effort is involved and will prefer to hire you to do it.

For example, if you’re selling SEO backlinks, here are some topics you could cover:

  • “The Beginners Guide To Link-Building”
  • “Ahrefs vs. SEMrush”
  • “Off-page SEO tips”

#2 Collecting Emails On Your Thank You Page

This is one of my favorite things about Legiit. Most other platforms don’t have a flexible thank you page like Legiit has – so you can just deliver the service, and that’s it.

With Legiit… You can promote whatever you want, and it’s allowed too.

So, you can send your visitors to an opt-in page, where you collect emails. Now, if you ever have a slow day and you’re not getting any sales, you can send out an email promoting your services. And to generate even more sales, you can use a discount too.

Plus, you can also send out newsletters anyway that promote your services. Ultimately, this little perk allows you to turn one sale into many.

#3 Facebook Groups & Social Media

The next way you can promote your services is through Social media, specifically Facebook groups. I’ve only just got started with using Twitter again, but Facebook groups can work well.

When I first started on Legiit, I offered my services at a very low price to get reviews. Then I posted this in a Facebook group:

As you can see I had over 20+ people interested from a single post. Of course, my prices were very low at the time, but doing the same can help you build a reputation quicker.

Besides, you can also use your favorite social media platforms to create content and sometimes promote your services.

Growing on the Platform

Legiit decides who to rank at the top for each category based on the freelancers’ performances. It’s a combination of your reviews, sales, and revenue.

So, the best way to optimize for it is using the right category, using keywords that describe your service, and doing a good job.

Write a Persuasive Service Page

It can be very tempting to skip the annoying task of writing a service page.

But this is a very costly mistake, and you’ll pay with sales. Instead, you should write a persuasive service page that doesn’t just spit out random features and benefits.

So, what do I mean by persuasive?

> Don’t just list benefits. Explain them in lots of detail

> Show off social proof (past reviews, testimonials, case studies, etc.)

> Explain how customers can use your service

Bonus Tip: Most of the customers on Legiit fit into the following categories; SEO agencies, affiliate websites, eCommerce stores, local businesses (through agencies). Keep this in mind when creating your offers, and try to make ones that would be useful to them. You’ll make more sales.

Build Up Reviews

Reviews are one of the main factors Legiit uses to choose where you rank. And it also tells the visitors that visit your page a lot about your service.

The best way to build up reviews is by simply doing a good job. And on your thank you page, just state something along the lines of “I would appreciate a positive review.”

I believe it’s not allowed to say exactly how many stars you want (For example, I would appreciate a 5-star review, or “Please give me a 5-star review”. Not 100% sure though.

If you’re good at providing your service, it will be easy for you to build up reviews. If you want to speed up the process, you can offer your services for a lower price, getting you reviews faster.

While this may sound like lots of work (which it is), it’s also quite effective because you get to meet more potential clients and email subscribers. Some people who purchase it for very low prices will see the actual value and continue doing so even if your prices double later on.

The Legiit Facebook Group

The Legiit Facebook group is a goldmine if you’re a freelancer because there are lots of opportunities:

Legiit Monday – Every Monday, you can go into the Facebook group and share your services with discounts. During this time, many customers hang around in the Facebook group because they know they can snatch some sweet deals there.

Legiit Roundup – Legiit has a weekly roundup newsletter sent to everyone who has ever signed up Legiit. And it includes exclusive discounts from freelancers on the platform. On Tuesdays, Chris (Legiit CEO) makes a post in the Facebook group, and you can add your service to be considered.

Share reviews – Finally, you’re also allowed to share your reviews in the Facebook group. This is great because it can lead to your customers seeing them and purchasing from you in the future. Plus, if you’re lucky, they might get shared on the social media channels.

Is Legiit A Good Platform For Freelancers?

Overall, Legiit is probably the best freelancing marketplace for freelancers, in my opinion. I’ve tried using other ones before I started using Legiit.

Most of them are crowded, have terrible support, not as many features, and most importantly, don’t have the same community.

Legiit, on the other hand, wins in all of these points, has better support, and charges fewer fees. But, I’ll look at the fees and pricing in more detail later on.Sign Up For a Free Account

Legiit Review: My Experience as a Customer

As mentioned earlier, I’ve also spent around $2,300 on the platform ($2,700 with advertising)- so I know a thing or two about finding trusted sellers.

If you want to use Legiit to hire a freelancer, all you need to do is sign up for a free account – then find someone and order their service.

If you can’t find what you’re looking for, there is a job board, or you can also ask in the Facebook group.

SEO Services

Many of the purchases I made on Legiit have gone toward SEO services for my affiliate sites.

Legiit, in case you don’t know, is primarily known for its SEO services. Although Legiit has started to branch out, most of the services on the platform are SEO-based.

However, you can also find plenty of social media, email marketing, graphic design, video editing, and other services – which I’ll talk about in a moment.

Back to the SEO services – Legiit is an absolute goldmine. There are a ton of agencies that come to this website and outsource their entire client budgets.

You can find pretty much any type of SEO service on Legiit:

  • Guest posts
  • Niche edits
  • Press releases
  • Foundation links
  • Links from specific websites
  • Social signals
  • Content writing
  • Audits

And it’s super easy to purchase, you just go their page and checkout. From there you submit the requirements like the URLs or whatever, and wait for the freelancer to deliver it.

Keep This In Mind When Purchasing SEO Services From Legiit

One thing you always have to keep in mind is that you’re purchasing a single piece of the puzzle. So, it’s still your responsibility to know whether you need this component for your SEO strategy.

That’s why when leaving reviews or even in general, you should only judge the freelancer based on what they promise to deliver.

For example, let’s say they promise you a link from reddit.com and deliver exactly that. If your rankings don’t improve, that’s not their fault because they have delivered what they have promised – you need to know whether it’s what you need, not them.

So, you should have an idea of SEO before purchasing services from there… Unless you find one that is managed.

Legiit Features For Customers

  • Access to thousands of freelancers
  • Discounts & Promotions
  • Messaging
  • Create cart bundles
  • Favorite services
  • See transactions & orders

Other Services

When purchasing other services, like, let’s say, some type of writing or graphic design – it may be worth messaging the seller first to see if they’re a good fit.

Not every freelancer is suited for every job, and if you assume something else, you may find yourself not getting the right results.

Luckily, Legiit makes it very easy to message sellers, as you can just click on their profile and do so from there. Besides, I also recommend reading the description and understanding how to judge what’s good and what isn’t.

Legiit Pricing

There is no cost for using Legiit, but there are fees for freelancers:

  • For customers (i.e buying services): 0%
  • For freelancers: 15%
  • Optional For Freelancers: Legiit Premium $28

Legiit Support

Legiit has a support team and a knowledge base.

The Legiit support team is VERY good. I’ve only had to use them once, and literally got a response in 20 minutes, and the issue was fixed.

They have to manually approve each service too, which they also do very quickly. I think the longest this has ever taken for me has been one or two hours. Usually, I make the service refresh a couple of times for 5 minutes or so, and it’s approved.

So, they’re very quick. You can find their support at Legiit.freshdesk.com.
